Summary of Outlive Your Life
Through the lens of the early Church as described in the first few chapters of Acts, Lucado examines how Christians should address problems, such as poverty and suffering, in the world. He does not attempt to analyze these complex social issues and proposed solutions. Instead, Lucado focuses on this one truth: "No one can do everything, but everyone can do something" (106). Both the chapters and the end-of-book study suggest practical steps ordinary Christians can take to reach out to needy people, both at home and around the world.

Why to Read Outlive Your Life
Lucado stresses the fact that it's the duty and privilege of ordinary folks to reach out and meet the needs of the world. He explains how God enables Christians to fulfill His missions. As Lucado puts it, "God doesn't call the qualified. He qualifies the called" (14). This is a hugely practical book, written for everyday, regular Christians. Yet Lucado doesn't just preach social activity. He places importance, as the Bible does, on the prayer surrounding our service and on God's working through us. Outlive Your Life issues a much-needed wake-up call for Christians to join in God's mission in a hurting and needy world.
