Plot of Faithful
Cyd, still single, is attending her little sister's wedding on Cyd's fortieth birthday. In the bustle of the wedding, no one even recognizes Cyd's birthday except for a too-smooth womanizer. Cyd is flattered by his attention but recognizes that Cedric is not the strong Christian man she has prayed the Lord to give her for years. Cyd knows she must be faithful to God, but Cedric makes it hard.

Cyd's friend Dana has a strong Christian man as her husband. Even so, faithfulness does not come easy. When Dana discovers her husband's affair, she must decide if their marriage can survive.

Cyd's other friend Phyllis is also a Christian, but her husband is not. After years of praying for him, Phyllis is discouraged with the lack of answers from God. In fact, things are actually getting worse. When Phyllis meets up with an old friend, who's now a Christian and single, Phyllis must choose faithfulness to her suffering marriage or the fulfillment of all she's wanted.

Why to Read Faithful
Tate is not afraid to tackle tough issues. She demonstrates how even strong Christians can fall into grave temptation by making one small compromise at a time. "How did I get here?" we often ask when we find ourselves in a mess. Tate shows how it happens. If we are wise, we will recognize we are all capable of the big mistakes, and we will only avoid them by guarding against the little compromises that pave the way to disaster.

Tate tackles the issue of faithfulness in a way that's useful both to singles and married people. Faithful brings out the underlying issue between marital unfaithfulness, which is unfaithfulness to God. Tate's story reveals how unfulfilled desires can cause us to question God's purposes.

This is an everyday story that builds on events that can and have happened to millions of women. Many Christian women will be able to identify with the characters in Faithful.
